The lecture will interpret the archaeological evidence observed in the geophysical, fieldwalking and metal detecting surveys of the area to the south of the walled small town and posting station. It will not only focus on the layout, character and chronology of this area of the settlement but also assess the spatial relationship between archaeological features and artifact assemblages’ retrieved from non intrusive approaches as well as assess the effectiveness of the new and highly accurate GPS systems acquired by CLASP and the extent to which this will revolutionise future fieldwalking methodology.
