This website is about a community archaeology project based at Nether Heyford in Northamptonshire, UK. A team of professional archaeologists, students and volunteers has been working since 2000 to uncover the rich history of a beautiful corner of the English countryside.
In July 2012 we completed the excavations of the villa site. In September 2012 the site was infilled and returned to pasture.
We still hope to investigate various aspects of the Whitehall landscape, including looking the "missing" Roman cemetery.
New developments in our understanding of Whitehall Villa are now reported on the CLASP website
At the heart of the project is a sophisticated Roman villa and bath house complex which was the centre of an agricultural estate extending over about 10 acres. Please use the links on the left to explore the site: if you are a newcomer, we recommend you begin with The Story So Far and the Introductory Video.
