This shows heavy and medium scatters of building stone debris.
A "fragment" is typically in excess of 500 grams.
Medium: 20 - 30 stone fragments per grid square | |
Heavy: more than 30 stone fragments per grid square |
There is one concentration of stone debris which is indicative of a substantial building, and the intensity of the scatter reflects very closely the size and layout of the structures beneath.
The focus of the scatter is centred on grid squares 2.2 to 5.2 in the northern grid.
Exploratory excavations confirmed that the building was a winged corridor villa associated with a flanking stone roundhouse.
